The Hamilton Tachymiler Chronograph

I snagged this beast on a whim at the same sales event as the Breitling because I really liked the look of the dial. This watch is a very unique looking piece, with lots going on with the dial. It’s also a very aggressive looking watch, with a tall 45mm case.

Check out the seconds subdial, as well as the minute totalizer. I love how they are recessed from the dial. I also really like the skeleton hands on the Tachymiler.

The pushers and crown are on the lefthand side of the case, which is the opposite side from where they are usually located. This makes the watch great for users that wear the watch on the right hand, but it still wears pretty comfortably on the left hand as well.

The caseback has two cutouts to display the Valjoux 7750 based movement, and the bracelet has a nice secure clasp. Although the bracelet is very solid, I found it just a little bit boring. I think I would prefer this watch on the rubber strap.

All things considered, if you can pick this watch up at eBay prices, or pre-owned prices, it is a great deal. I don’t think I would shell out the $1395 retail price, but luckily it’s pretty easy to find this watch at a substantial discount.

The Panerai 1950 Flyback 212 Chronograph

It has been a couple weeks since this beauty showed up at my desk, and I am just getting around to a proper review since thus far, I’ve been too busy enjoying the hell out of this watch!  My favorite thing about this watch is its versatility.  It looks just as great dressed down with a rustic ammo strap as it does dressed up with an OEM alligator strap.  Today I am photographing it with a Vintager Straps by Micah Brindle strap.

I love the way that the chrono pushers stick out of the crown guard at an angle. If you get a chance to see one of these watches “live”, take a look at that part of the watch…it looks so cool.

The movement is nicely decorated and has “Officine Panerai” engraved on it. The blue letters look awesome.

The 1950 case has grown to be my favorite of all the case styles that Panerai offers. It somehow manages to be as graceful as the Radiomir case, and as masculine as the Luminor case all at the same time. The domed sapphire crystal doesn’t hurt either!

Stay tuned for more photos with the dressier OEM alligator strap!
