I wanted to add an strap/bracelet option for my Omega Speedmaster 3570.50 Moon Watch, so I decided to go for a Di-Modell black gator strap. I like the way this goes with the vintage look of the Moon Watch, and I like how it makes the watch look smaller, and even a bit more old school.

Here’s a shot of the strap. The gator hide is very supple. There are no break-in issues with this strap.

I’m going to have to let this watch go soon to finance an incoming purchase, but I am going to miss the dial and white hands. I will definitely snag another Speedmaster once funds permit.

You can’t see the underside of the strap, but it has a whole bunch of little holes in the underside to help ventilate. This makes for a very comfortable strap.

The Omega Speedmaster Professional 3570.50 Moon Watch…A More Detailed Look

I remember back when I first started looking at watches thinking to myself that this watch looked like a slightly different version of the Tag Heuer Carrera. I chuckle everytime I remember that now that I own a Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch. Upon first glance, it is easy for the untrained eye to lump these two watches together. But now that I have owned both, I can say without a doubt that I’d take the Moon Watch over the Carrera any day.

I love how the subdials are recessed out from the dial. It gives the face some dimension, and looks great. I also love the flat black dial that almost looks grey. It gives the watch a great vintage look.

It really doesn’t get anymore classic than this piece. It looks just as great with jeans and a t-shirt as it does with a dress shirt and slacks. The speedmaster has been around for 40+ years…so you know this look is never going to go out of style.

The bracelet on the Speedmaster Pro is one of my favorite bracelets out there right now. The double push-button clasp fastens securely, and has a very solid feel to it. The links are sturdy, without feeling heavy on the wrist, and it has a clean, no-nonsense look.

The caseback is engraved to denote that this watch is qualified for all manned space missions by NASA.

This watch has a few different features that enable it to perform in outer space. The first is the hesalite crystal. This material will not shatter, unlike a sapphire crystal. The second is the manual wind movement. This enables the watch to stay properly wound in space, since an automatic movement rotor would be unable to wind itself in a zero gravity environment. The speedmaster is also able to function in a wide range of temperatures, and magnetic fields. I doubt that I’ll every go to the moon in my lifetime…but if I do, I’ll know what time it is!
