I’ve always seen these two company names mentioned together, and their product offerings are very similar, so I always just kind of assumed that these are the same companies.  Just to clear that up once and for all, I figured I would post a link to the official press release:

The story is pretty familiar here.  A bigger watch company felt the Steinhart name was too similar, and the logo also looked too similar to theirs.  So, they brought a lawsuit against Steinhart and rather than spending a lot of time and money to fight it, Steinhart decided to just change their name and go on making great watches!
