The Bernhardt Globemaster GMT
This review has been a few weeks coming, and now that I finally snapped some pictures that do this watch justice, it’s time for us to get down to business. The Bernhardt Globemaster GMT is one of the best values that I have seen in quite awhile. It combines features that you would expect out of a watch five times as expensive, and a price tag that is a lot less than you would expect.
I love the green and silver combo of the bezel, and the polished outline around each of the applied numbers looks fantastic against the black dial.
The bezel turns smoothly, and is easy to grip due to the “coin” edge. The signed crown is fairly prominent, and easy to grip.
The movement is a modified ETA 2824 automatic, with a GMT function. I love the green “Skeleton” hand for the GMT function. It looks great against the black dial. The 42mm case gives the watch great wrist presence, without being overly large.
The solid end links are machined out of stainless steel, and give the watch a substantial feel.
One of my favorite features of this watch is the screw in links on the bracelet. It is details such as this that tell me the Globemaster was designed by a true watch enthusiast. It’s nice to be able to size the bracelet quickly and easily using my 1.6mm screwdriver.
The clasp is solid, and fastens securely, and has a secondary safety clasp. There are micro-adjustments on the clasp for fine tuning the fit of the bracelet.
The watch comes in a nice presentation box, and has a numbered caseback and matching documentation. Not bad for a watch that costs less than $500! All in all, if you want a great watch, with features found on many much more expensive watches, and don’t want to spend a ton of cash, look no further. The Globemaster is also available with a blue dial and a blue/orange bezel. You can order yourself one of these beauties at www.bernhardtwatch.com.
